Életrajz

MÁTÉ BELLA is one of the few composers who, prior to turning 35, has already become a significant figure within the Hungarian contemporary classical music scene. His compositions are played by renowned international orchestras, and his most popular works are favorites of several radio stations; his musical theater pieces are performed on the stages of the most distinguished theaters in the country. He considers it his mission to integrate Generation Y and Z into the classical music scene. His works can be described as a musical melting pot that are written with both a contemporary flair, whilst still preserving the essence of several different genres. As a student of professor Gyula Fekete, he graduated from the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest in 2011 with a degree in composition. For a semester in 2013, he studied in professor Wojciech Widłak’s class at the Academy of Music in Krakow on an Erasmus Scholarship. In 2014, he won a scholarship from the Peter Eötvös Contemporary Music Foundation for a year, and in 2017, he was sponsored with a scholarship from the New National Excellence Program. He is one of the founders of the Studio 5 contemporary composers’ group, which was founded in 2016. He received his Summa Cum Laude DLA doctoral degree in 2018 and is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. He is also a member of the Artisjus Committee of Classical Music Critics, the Hungarian Composers’ Union, and the Composers’ Section of the Hungarian Film Academy Association. Most notable amongst his competitional achievements and awards are the Junior Prima Prize, the Erkel Prize, and the Bartók–Pásztory Award.
