The Hungarian Composers’ Association was founded on October 14, 1990.
The members of the Composers’ Section of the then-disbanded Hungarian Musicians’ Association, which encompassed all areas of musical life, automatically became members of the Association.
At first, only classical and pop composers, later also music lyricists. From the beginning, the membership expanded with young people and Hungarian colleagues from abroad who were not (could have been) members of the previous association.
The membership has been around 150 for a long time, according to the fluctuation of newly admitted and deceased members.
